Status update

I don't know how many of you out there are still waiting with baited breath for the latest offerings from DPD, but I did want to post a blog just to address some things.

Firstly, the Acceptables are on a temporary hiatus. They are not gone for good. I admit that this hiatus started off with the intention to simply move the comic from monthly to bimonthly as I have little time to work on it lately. That quickly turned into a "temporary hiatus" as I got my shit together. This hiatus is now in its seventh month, and I apologize for leaving not one but two storylines hanging. I have every intention to bring this story back and at no point have reached the stage of "Ah, fuck it." Because despite having a fairly small circle of fans, it was well received and I intend to make good on my promise to continue the series.

Speaking of the Acceptables, one reason I have staved off working on the comic series is because I know I am a far better writer than an artist. In fact I feel my, hah, acceptable art skills have stifled my writing in that I could write a kickass scene, but can't illustrate it in a way that does it justice. This is the main contributing factor (along with how horrendously long it takes me TO poorly illustrate an issue) for the hiatus staying put.

What I'm saying is that they will come back and I am currently focused on writing them some adventures in fiction form. I feel it a great way to explore the characters' past and more easily explain how they came to be who they are. The first I hope to have finished by the end of December, but we will see how that goes.

I do also have plans not only for more Corpsettes products, but for the development of a few other properties. As stated, better writer than an artist and for the time being I am working on bringing each thing up to par individually before moving to a new project. This is something that does not come naturally, so I thank you kindly for your patience.

This does mean that I hope to bring the scarcely spoken of Science Fiction up to a higher level of completion. All I have to offer are a few drawings and a paper doll, and so nobody has any knowledge of the characters or why we should give a shit about the story. Again, sorry, one thing at a time does not come naturally.

In summation, don't hold your breath but never lose hope. I will be back.

Good news everybody! The December comic as well as the Acceptable Sixpack are available at Delicious Pie's store! (Finally and for reals!)

Also, I'm debating doing some specials sometime in the coming year and I'd really like some feedback on the matter. Go take this poll or comment on this post to let me know what you'd like to see!

I'm REALLY happy with this issue, lots of great dialogue and my drawing skillz are getting much better. (I almost can't bear Issue 0.) This one features Corpse Guy, Blue Streak, The Wretched, and The Insufferable Bitch among others. So go check it out!

The Acceptables

So for the longest time I've written on and off, and I'm always looking for new things to do to add to the Delicious Pie family of fabulous. I am happy to present The Acceptables, a group of super heroes who spend their time righting wrongs and occasionally wronging rights.

The Acceptables are The Insufferable Bitch (with super strength and super bitchery), Holy Roller (kicking ass for the lord), Corpse Guy (he sees what most people can not), Blue Streak (formerly Speed Demon, formerly Whizbang, formerly The Spazz, et. al.), The Great Moustache and Illusion, Bubblegum, Black Face, The Former Human Blob, The Wretched, and Mighty Aphrodite.

Issue 0 introduces the group in all their glory, and is a special 28 page issue. Special thanks to some fabulous advertisers, letter writing fans, and my friend Yaki for providing me with a one page comic. It's a super special issue, and I hope you'll love it!

July's issue is still on preorder because of my error. I didn't take into account printing TIME. But luckily, August's is right behind that one and will be ready at the beginning of its designated month!

Issue 1 features the introduction of Ava Starling, a photo journalist with a daredevil attitude about getting the perfect shot. And Blue Streak has screwed up one time too many for Mighty Aphrodite's liking. How's he going to deal with his new partner in crime fighting?

Comic book ad space

I'm offering ad space in my upcoming comic book to cover my initial printing costs. I'll do this with each issue, and they will probably come out every other month. I'm about a page and a half (and a cover) away from being finished with the first issue. (Note that I will get a proof before I print a bunch, so they won't be available until the middle of next month.)

You can see a few pages right here so you know what it's all about. It's a group of third tier super heroes. Yay.

A full page ad is $30 and a quarter page is only $10. The comic is in BLACK AND WHITE so please keep that in mind when designing your ads (In the future it might go to color. We'll see!) A standard comic book page is 6 x 9, and I will want your ad in 300 DPI (If you need help, just ask.) If you're interested in the back cover or inside the front cover, feel free to ask.

Ads are first come first serve. Meaning they'll be in the comic in the order that they are paid for, and I will not hold a spot. (I am in the process of laying out the comic and figuring out where the ad breaks will be.)

New accessories!

As you know I'm always striving to come up with new products and accessories to feature my characters and designs. Most people aren't super interested in just purchasing art, but put that art on a handy item and they are all over it!

The following are available in My Etsy or will be listed sometime in the next few days! (If you want it NOW let me know and I'll make it a reserved listing for you!)

Firstly, I found this awesome mirror a while ago and thought it would look DARLING with a picture of Cold Ethyl on it. It's a great mirror, has a magnifying mirror in one side, and is the perfect little size to keep in your bag.

Second I also found this great business card holder and likewise decided to put Decayla on it. She'll guard your information and then you'll look super cool when you whip this out to hand somebody your card. Surely you mean business!

Next, I've made some hair clips! They use pretty much the same method as my keychains to apply the art and remain sturdy. The bobby pins they're attached to are of a super nice quality and I even made myself some!

PLEASE NOTE - Yeah I did make a few Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne clips but GET EM WHILE YOU CAN! I've made it clear that I'm moving away from using any copywritten characters (indirect violation is still violation, even if Tony and Bruce might hold up under parody laws) ANYWAY I have a few more pieces of the printed work that I'll go ahead and use but after that I won't be printing any more! (So if you want anything, grab it now cause it'll be gone for good unless I magically can afford licensing.)

Madeline "Mad" Science is now immortalized in the form of a Living Dead Doll. She comes with a dress, lab coat, and apron along with GLOW IN THE DARK hair. She looks pretty amazing in the dark although it's impossible to photograph.

Oi. So much stuff today, you wouldn't believe. I know I know the last post was also today but I am excited so new news!

First off, the stickers for the Corpsette correspondence kits arrived today! Yaay! I ordered them from Kitty Crossbones. She's great because you can do small runs of all kinds of promotional buttons and stickers and fun stuff. (Now watch carefully. I'm referring you to her. Go buy something and mention SavageLucy42 in your buyer comments.) Muah!

Also I went ahead and ordered some Delicious Pie buttons. Woo!

Aren't those cute? If you want one you'll have to buy something. I'll try to throw one in to the next couple orders but I only got 25 so if you mention it I will definitely remember to throw it in!

Lastly, I finished a ooak Living Dead Doll. I haven't done a LDD in AGES but I was digging through boxes and found a Hollywood that I had stripped the paint off of. Course I had to paint white over all her wounds because the red stains the vinyl so bad (if you aren't a LDD conoseiur don't worry about it) ANYWAY, she will be going on eBay later tonight!

I have a new product (yes actual usable product, not an art print) featuring the Corpsettes that should be in the store by the end of next week. I'm very excited about it.

I don't know who all keeps up with my Science Fiction trading cards and paper dolls (well one doll so far...) but I've just finished the base for Persephone Kaboom. I think I'll take a break from her though just to get a male character done so I can have at least one male trading card.

Here's Persephone's first card though, and she'll be in the shop pretty soon.

Hi kids! Welcome to the Delicious Pie newsfeed blog!

This blog was started for me, your friendly neighborhood savage, to list news and updates about Delicious Pie Designs. I'll show off new products, tell you about sales and specials, announce contests, and talk about ideas and plans. I might even take into consideration any opinions you guys have. I know it.

So what is Delicious Pie Designs? We're a teeny tiny company currently located in Los Angeles, California. We're bringing spooky and fun collectible toys, clothing and accessories, art, prints, stationary, jewelry, and accessories. But hey there's tons of other things I'd love to bring to the world like home decor, apparel, and other novelty items.
